#### Adding Notes to the Map with the Annotation Tool

            

The Annotation tool lets you add notes to the Map that will appear when you print the Map out for yourself or for a client.

        

        

            

                
                    
                        
                        

**To Add an Annotation**

                    
                    
                        
                            
                            
                                

Find the area of the Map you’d like to add a note to and zoom in to the preferred region.

                            
                        
                        
                            
                            
                                

On the Drawing Tools toolbar, click the **Annotation Tool**.

                            
                        
                        
                            
                            
                                

Click the location on the Map where you would like the note to appear. The Add Annotation dialog box opens.

                            
                        
                        
                            
                            
                                

Type the custom text of your annotation directly inside the input box framework.

                            
                        
                        
                            
                            
                                

Click **Apply**. The formatted annotation cloud layer renders immediately directly over the map viewport canvas.

**To Delete an Annotation**

                    
                    
                        

To scrub an active note completely away from your saved layout template, single-click the targeted annotation box element on the map canvas to open the hover settings panel, then click the **Delete** option control.
