Overview
CoreLogic Credco (Cotality), is a third-party company that helps your lender verify specific details from your credit report. In some cases, you’ll need to join a quick phone call to authorize your creditor to share updated account information. This ensures your information is verified directly and meets privacy requirements.
Credit reports provide a snapshot of your financial history, but your lender may need more current or detailed information to complete your loan review. Even if you’ve already provided documents, a third-party verification call may still be required to meet underwriting guidelines.
CoreLogic will call you and advise that they need to complete a conference call with you and a creditor. If you do not answer, they will leave a message asking you to call them back and will provide you with a reference number (it usually starts with “PFM”). Please have that number available and call them back promptly. During the call, you’ll verify your identity by confirming details like your name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. A Cotality agent will explain what information is being requested, then connect with your creditor while you remain on the line.
The creditor will also ask you to confirm your identity before releasing the requested details. The call typically takes about 10–15 minutes. Once completed, the verified information is sent directly to your lender to support an accurate and timely loan decision.
Common conference call questions and answers
Why do I need to be on the phone?
You need to be on the call to give your creditor permission to share specific account details with CoreLogic, as requested by your lender. Your participation is required to authorize the release of this information and to meet privacy and security requirements, helping protect your personal information.
I provided the documents to my lender, why can't those be used?
Although you've submitted documents to your lender, their credit underwriting guidelines often require independent third-party verification. This ensures the information is complete, accurate, current, and compliant with regulatory standards.
