When properties that match your search criteria are found, they are displayed on the Map with a push pin. You can click the push pin to zoom in on the property or run reports, including property detail, comparable properties in the area, market trends like sales price and market conditions, a complete neighborhood profile, and foreclosure data. **CRITICAL SEARCH BOUNDS RULE:** The Map always takes precedence over other searches. Once you begin working on the Map, the criteria of the search will relate directly to what is happening on the Map, and some fields, like Zip Code and City, will be disabled in the Search Results Grid. **Saved Shape Searches** You can use drawing tools to mark the search boundary(ies) that will be added to your My Search Form. When a shape is drawn on the Map, it automatically becomes part of your My Search Template with values. Click [here](/docs/searching-on-the-realist-map#) to view the active Shape-driven search layout. ![Map workspace display illustrating a completed custom shape boundary added directly into the search values profile.](https://cdn.document360.io/d7730790-9b0e-4a1e-800e-a32628b13559/Images/Documentation/Searching_on_the_Realist_Map_1.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T00%3A31%3A41Z&se=2026-11-06T01%3A31%3A41Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=HGFJa1PxpFW0xdBOlMn1IuJF5aauvdI9CijlIEkiEHg%3D) **TIP:** Drawing a shape on the map is an excellent way to search for parcels in a particular subdivision. Because of subtle differences in how a subdivision name appears on individual public records, physically identifying boundaries directly on the map layout ensures comprehensive results. For detailed information on operating spatial overlays, see [Working with Drawing Tools](/docs/working-with-drawing-tools.html). **Leveraging Overlay Boundaries** Using Boundaries you can view important contextual features related to properties on your map layout viewport. Toggle your preferred visibility rulesets to track lines like Parcel lines, Neighborhood boundaries, County splits, City lines, Zip Codes, and School Districts, alongside custom Points of Interest targets (banks, restaurants, or gas stations). **Utilizing Quick Identify Features** Quick identify lets you instantly view a parcel boundary by left-clicking any localized zone coordinate directly on the Map viewport canvas. This structural callout action automatically launches the floating Property Detail Card overlay window: Click [here](/docs/searching-on-the-realist-map#) to view the Property Detail summary hover card interface element. ![Realist map workspace displaying the quick zoom Property Detail summary card modal popup element.](https://cdn.document360.io/d7730790-9b0e-4a1e-800e-a32628b13559/Images/Documentation/Searching_on_the_Realist_Map_2.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T00%3A31%3A41Z&se=2026-11-06T01%3A31%3A41Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=HGFJa1PxpFW0xdBOlMn1IuJF5aauvdI9CijlIEkiEHg%3D) For more instruction on utilizing map-based criteria manipulation, see [About the Realist Map](/docs/about-the-realist-map).
