Common Errors
What are some common credit validation errors?
Error Code | Message Description | Suggested Actions |
CR02 | Error: Reference Number Not Found | When reissuing a credit report, you must select the same product that was used for the original inquiry. For example, if the original credit report was an Instant Merge (hard inquiry), the reissue must also be an Instant Merge (hard inquiry). You cannot use a PreApproval credit report reference number to reissue an Instant Merge (hard inquiry) credit report. This is a critical step to ensure product consistency. |
E038 | Invalid Login ID or Password | Confirm the correct account number or password has been entered. |
E005 | Invalid or Missing Street Address | Make sure you enter the complete street address, including any necessary details like apartment or suite numbers. Remove any extra spaces from the beginning of the address line. Although mailing address is not required, be sure that the "Mailing Address" field is filled out in its entirety, if adding a mailing address. |
E022 | Invalid Borrower Generation | Acceptable Generation Codes are as follows: J, JR, Jr, S, SR, Sr, II, 2, III, 3, IV, 4, V, 5, VI, 6, VII, 7, VIII, 8, IX, 9. Ensure no period is added to the name suffix. Please note that roman numeral "II" is represented by two capital "I" characters, not two lowercase "L" characters. |
E061 | Reissue Request Demographics Do Not Match Original Report | A mismatch between the current borrower or co-borrower information reissue request and the original credit report reference data will prevent a credit report from being reissued. This includes discrepancies in name and SSN, as well as changes to borrower positions (applicant vs. co-applicant), the addition of a co-borrower, or deletion of a co-borrower. To reissue a report, the retrieve request must exactly match the information from the original file. |
E034 | Invalid Report Type | When a product is requested that your account is not currently configured to order, the system generates an "invalid report type." This means the product is unavailable under your account setup. Also, if you select PreQual instead of PreApproval, you will get this error. |
CR01 | Error: Invalid Reference Number | Reference numbers are 15 digits long. Ensure correct reference number is added. Also, ensure full 15 digits including trailing 0s are entered. |
E025 | Invalid Co-borrower Generation | Acceptable Generation Codes are as follows: J, JR, Jr, S, SR, Sr, II, 2, III, 3, IV, 4, V, 5, VI, 6, VII, 7, VIII, 8, IX, 9. Ensure no period is added to the name suffix. Please note that roman numeral "II" is represented by two capital "I" characters, not two lowercase "L" characters. |
E008 | Invalid or Missing Postal Code | Zip code is missing or does not match state in request. Visit https://usps.com/zip4 to validate zip code for applicable state. |
E016 | Invalid or Missing Previous Postal Code | Previous/Prior Address was entered. Postal Code is either missing or does not match state in request. Visit https://usps.com/zip4 to validate zip code for applicable state. |

Please have the consumer contact Equifax Consumer Relations at 800-203-7843 or contact CoreLogic Technical Support at 800-423-1150. | Equifax has suppressed the Lender’s inquiry because the combination of demographics used (i.e., Name, Address, SSN) has been identified as fraudulent or not matching the credit file. Please have the borrower contact Equifax and validate the demographics used to pull their credit report (Name, Address, SSN, and Date of Birth). Usually, this is due to information in the request not matching the information in the consumer file or as a result of suspicious activity previously identified on or associated with this credit file. Mismatched or missing from the credit file or the information requires further verification from the borrower (such as a new address or new last name due to marriage). This is not due to a blocked or frozen file. Once the credit file at Equifax has been updated, please call our technical support or customer service line to reset Equifax bureau for fulfillment. |
